Cheri uses a variety of mediums from oils and pastels to ink and watercolour. Quality draughtsmanship, accuracy and technical skill is always her starting point, whichever medium she chooses to use.

Her highly original style has flourishes of Victorian illustrations, Art Nouveau, Arts and Crafts and Magical Realism.

“I hope to reawaken in others that childhood enchantment in nature: to see with fresh glittering eyes, a world filled with wonder.”

Cheri has been described as a “miniaturist who paints big.” Her work is indeed extraordinarily detailed. Cheri explains that this stems from her fascination for pattern and curiosity for how things work.

Moreover, living in a fast-paced, rushed, and digital world, we often experience things only as a blur (if we notice them at all), her work encourages us to slow down; to look deeper and differently: moving beyond the superficial, seeing the rich and beautiful tapestry of nature.

“It’s the soul and imagined character of the creatures that I endeavour to portray in my wildlife. They all have stories to tell. My aim is to present nature as I experience it: overflowing with stories, curiosities, beauty, but most of all… magic.”
