Ben Healy

Benjamin was born in Plymouth in 1988 and is a graduate of the University of the West of England, Bristol. He has a keen interest in nature and the environment which led him to live in British Columbia, Canada, for two years. It was here that he became even more fascinated with the natural surroundings which shone through in his work and he began drawing detailed mountain ranges and animals. His artwork subjects now include local landmarks and nature.
His methods combine modern detailed ink-work inside geometric shapes with water colour. His techniques include stippling, a highly detailed form of shading, along with precise line work. Ben is also a graphic designer which has had a big influence in his use of geometric shapes. These shapes act as small windows to view another part of the piece, which also makes the artwork pop.  He uses water colour to add a dramatic splash of vibrancy in an abstract manner to give the piece an added sense of depth. The colour always links to the subject.
